AHS provides its students with a variety of opportunities to get involved with the performing arts. Our theatre program has a full curriculum of Theater classes during the school day and an extensive after school program producing numerous plays and musicals each year. If you are an incoming student, we encourage you to join the AHS theatre department. If you are a community member, we encourage you to see our shows and support the magnificent arts department at AHS!

Musical theatre
Musical Theatre class focuses on improving acting, singing, and dancing abilities and incorporating those aspects in auditioning and performance. Whether you are interested in pursuing a career in Musical Theatre or simply looking for a way to stretch your comfort zone in a way that allows for artistic and creative expression, this is a great class to grow in ability and confidence!
Advanced Drama
This is our highest level dramatic arts course at Alpharetta High School. Students stretch the limits of their own acting abilities as well as go into intense depth in learning skills and knowledge in theatrics. Our advanced class also participates in the GHSA One Act competition. You are required to audition for Advanced Acting if interested. More information pertaining to auditions will be released towards the end of the school year.
Acting
The Acting class at AHS introduces students to the fundamentals of theatre in a creative and supportive environment. Led by our directors, students explore improvisation, scene work, character development, and movement. Through hands-on activities and performance opportunities, including showcases and school productions, students build confidence, teamwork, and a strong foundation in the performing arts.
Technical Theatre
Technical Theatre 1 and 2 is a technical theatre class in the AHS Theatre Program. You will learn the in and outs of backstage work like basics in lighting, stage direction, sound, carpentry and designing, set painting, costumes, and makeup throughout the year. All levels of experience and knowledge are welcome to sign up for this course, just come ready to learn and participate in hands-on activities!
